Alchemic Wawel, the Rosicrucian Order and the plague decimating Krakow. Kacper Ryx comes back in Mariusz Wollny’s latest book. Before the novel reaches bookstores, it will be available for purchase in Krakow on Sunday (5 February). Mariusz Wollny will sign his latest book, Kacper Ryx i król alchemików (Eng. Kacper Ryx and the King of Alchemists) at high noon, in the Hipolit House on Plac Mariacki 3, accompanied by alchemists, fencers and ladies-in-waiting.

A knight in full armour landed at the Leśna Góra Hospital, and a page on a stretcher – at the intensive care unit. St. John’s Fair’s regulars will easily recognise the two as the knights they had a chance to meet in June on the Vistula boulevards! Viewers across Poland will be able to see them in the upcoming episode of the Na dobre i na złe series on Friday (13 January).

Spanish television channel, TVE, broadcast an almost hour-long feature programme from Krakow, presenting the city from the perspective of young Spaniards, recommending it as a perfect place for a trip abroad. The video also includes coverage of St. John’s Fair that was held on 23-26 June on the Vistula boulevards. So far, Krakow is the only Polish city recommended by the Spanish television.

Almost 200 merchants and artisans, forty stands and twelve equestrian shows – this, in a nutshell, is the best description of this year’s record-setting St. John’s Fair. During the five days between the 22nd and the 26th of June, almost one hundred people turned up for the fair on the Vistula Boulevards. One hundred of them received His Royal Highness’ Apprentice Investigator’s Privilege and almost one hundred fifty were granted proclamation of release from indenture as Apprentices of All Trades. The Benedictine Mnisze co nieco (Monks’ Morsels) Inn couldn’t complain either – visitors ordered and ate over seven thousand pierogi dumplings!
